Amal Clooney played a key role in the International Criminal Court's decision to issue arrest warrants for Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas' leader Yahya Sinwar over alleged war crimes, it has been revealed.  Clooney, a renowned human rights lawyer, was named as one of the six legal experts who helped British prosecutor Karim Khan come to the decision, announced today, to seek warrants for Netanyahu, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as three Hamas leaders. Clooney, who is married to Hollywood legend George Clooney, revealed that she had been asked to help Khan evaluate the evidence of alleged war crimes in Gaza and Israel four months ago. 

 The King looked delighted to be back in action today as he visited a garden designed by children at Chelsea Flower Show. Charles, 75, joined by Queen Camilla looked in his element to be back to work as he chatted to wellwishers in the soaring spring heat. They were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester for the occasion, a staple in the royal calendar.

Crowds of travellers have gathered at an idyllic rural village for a traditional horse fair dating back to 1269. Members of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities gathered in Wickham, Hampshire, for the annual Wickham Horse Fair - one of the oldest of its kind in the UK. Roads, shops and pubs have all been closed in preparation for the May 20 event which is an opportunity to sell and trade horses, as well as for family and friends to meet up, according to revellers. Fun fairs, burger vans and other stalls also set up shop to cash in on the historic day that has been celebrated 'every year' since it was founded in the 13th century.

Kaitlin Palmieri, 38, from Long Island, told the New York Post how she found an online tribute to her fiancé Eric (pictured together left and right), who died aged 33, which revealed he'd been seeing another woman. He had been sending his lover sexual messages only a week before he was due to marry Kaitlin, and had met both of them on dating apps. She said that she now needs therapy, and hopes sharing her story will help other women.

Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), described the crash in Iran's northwest that killed Raisi, his foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and seven others as an 'irreparable blow' to the country's mullahs. 'This represents a monumental and irreparable strategic blow to the mullahs' Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the entire regime, notorious for its executions and massacres,' Rajavi said. 'It will trigger a series of repercussions and crises within theocratic tyranny, which will spur rebellious youths into action.' Created in 1981 just two years after the overthrow of Iran's Shah and the beginning of the Islamic Republic, the NCRI has long been a major opponent of former Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini and incumbent Ali Khamenei. Billing itself as the democratic alternative, the group calls for the overthrow of the 'religious dictatorship' and the 'inhumane regime' of Iran's theocratic leaders. The group is banned in Iran and has been ruthlessly persecuted but enjoys significant support from the Iranian diaspora worldwide.

There are plenty of Iranians who are celebrating the unexpected death of the president, who has earned a reputation as a brutal, hardline executor of Supreme Leader Khamenei's will. The daughters of Minoo Majidi - a 62-year-old Iranian woman who was one of hundreds of people shot dead by security services during the nationwide fallout following the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022 - shared a video to social media raising a glass to the president's demise. That clip was followed swiftly by two more Iranian women, Mersedeh Shahinkar and Sima Moradbeigi, dancing and smiling in response to the news Raisi's helicopter had plunged into the mountainside. Shahinkar was blinded by the security forces' brutality amid the 2022 protests, while Moradbeigi lost the use of one of her arms after an armed guard blasted her elbow apart from point-blank range. A slew of other videos shared to social media appeared to show people setting off fireworks in the streets of Tehran in celebration - though these clips are yet to be verified.

Britons have been warned to remain vigilant against an invasion of Asian hornets, as sightings of the pests reach record highs. Nicola Spence, the UK's chief plant health officer, has asked members of the public to report any sightings of the non-native Asian hornet this summer. While these stinging bugs are not usually dangerous to humans, they can be devastating for bees and other pollinators. The warning comes as wildlife groups reveal that warmer weather is making it easier for invasive species to grow and spread in the UK.

Charlotte Estlick had hoped to jet off from Manchester Airport for a package holiday to Dalaman in Turkey with her husband Myk, 28, and their six-year-old daughter Nyla. But after arriving at Terminal 2 to check-in on May 3, the mother-of-one claims her partner was refused travel due to his passport being lightly marked with blue ink. The 28-year-old says she was shocked when Mr Estlick was told he could not fly despite having used the same passport for eight years with the marking on it with no trouble - including getting into Dalaman last May. When they tried to get an emergency passport, she claims the passport office did not have any availability for several days, which would mean her partner would miss the majority of their trip.

Stark figures show four in ten residents in Wigan, Great Yarmouth and Swale are now obese. For comparison, just a tenth of people in Kensington and Chelsea fall into the same category, according to the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities. Waistlines also rose across the country, with the average overweight and obesity rate the highest logged since records began. Nearly eight in ten adults are now classed as fat in County Durham and the Wirral. But the data also covers the period in which Britain was plunged into a cost of living crisis, which experts have long warned increases the risk of malnourishment due to high food and energy prices.

An Uber driver has been accused of taking advantage of a drunk passenger by taking a 40-mile long detour around the M25 and charging her £156 for a journey that normally costs £25.  The shocking incident allegedly occurred after the passenger fell asleep and the driver opted to take her on a detour along the UK's busiest motorway, blaming road works for the new route.  The woman had ordered the Uber to take her from central London to her home in East London knowing that the journey would usually cost around £25.

Amir Khan 's £11.5million luxury wedding venue has finally hosted its first marriage after a series of hitches. The lavish 'Dubai-style' tower in Bolton opened on Saturday with a bang as the venue's first-ever bride and groom celebrated their big day in style. Videos showed guests being serenaded by violinists in front of palm trees and eating fruit canapés served by staff in bow ties , as they watched the bride arrive on a horse-drawn carriage and the groom in a Rolls Royce. Khan's venue - named 'The Balmayna' - sits opposite a car wash and fly-tipping spot and has previously been criticised as 'looking like an office building' and 'tacky'. Broken fridges, settees and dirty mattresses were seen dumped by fly-tippers around the venue in January this year. Two months later, pictures showed the venue's grand chandelier hanging from a corrugated metal roof near a smoke alarm and cables. But images from Saturday's event showed how staff had quickly managed to fix these issues, as the building's lavish marble floors and chandeliers were on display for all guests to see.

The late Derek Acorah has been thrust back into the limelight after his former Most Haunted co-host Yvette Fielding claimed the psychic tried to grope her while pretending to be possessed by a spirit. Acorah, who died aged 69 in 2020 after a sepsis infection following a battle with pneumonia, has been posthumously accused by Fielding of being a 'fake' medium who tried to 'chase' her and 'ram his tongue down my throat'. The former Blue Peter host also claims that Acorah would make sexually explicit remarks, including repeatedly asking to see her breasts. The shocking allegations come almost 20 years after the pair famously fell out over a fakery row over a 2005 episode of Most Haunted in which Acorah appeared to become possessed by an alleged made-up spirit at Bodmin Gaol in Cornwall. Resident parapsychologist Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe later revealed he had set up Acorah by having other crew members feed him false information about spirits in various locations.

This is the shocking moment a thief on a bike snatches a victim's phone from her hands in broad daylight at a bus stop in central London. In the video, a cyclist dressed all in black rides up to a group of people standing near the Curzon cinema on Shaftesbury Avenue in London's West End. The thief slows down as he approaches them before he snatches the phone out of a young woman's hands and speeds off. At the start of the clip - which has been shared widely on TikTok and X - the thief can be seen riding alongside another cyclist who is also dressed all in black. A body language expert now says that Diddy made himself appear to be a victim in the apology video he posted on social media after CNN aired footage of him physically abusing his then-girlfriend, Cassie. The assault video was aired by Friday six months after singer Cassie filed a lawsuit that set off a wave of similar cases and public allegations against one of the most influential music moguls of the past three decades. The case was settled out of court. Following that incident, Diddy said that he sought therapy and asked God for forgiveness. During his video, which was posted on Sunday, the Bad Boy founder never mentions Cassie by name or any of the other women who are alleging abuse. Now body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mirror that Diddy framed himself as a victim in the video.

A video of the 7ft 1in giant The Great Khali lifting the world's shortest woman with one hand before swinging the 2ft Indian around and putting her on his knee has sparked outrage on social media. The wrestler, whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana, was seen picking up Jyoti Amge, 30, in a bizarre video posted on his Instagram page. The footage shows the retired WWE wrestler with his large hands wrapped fully around the woman's waist while she stood on his knee beaming into the camera. A surveillance camera confirmed a couple's worst fears when their hired nanny shook their eight-month-old baby. The shocking footage showed the babysitter and the boy sitting on a carpet in the residential building's playroom when she violently grabbed him and turned him on her side. The woman then dragged the baby boy and shoved him into the mat.

Skygazers in Portugal and Spain were in for a shock at the weekend, when a bright green fireball lit up the skies above them. The bright comet fragment appeared late on Saturday, according to the European Space Agency (ESA). One Lisbon resident said the dazzling display 'felt like a movie'.
